Learn about our history, mission, and values
SOS Ayahuasca was born from concern about preserving native matrices of sacred plants used in the traditional preparation of Ayahuasca.
The SOS Ayahuasca Institute was founded by a collective that sees itself as a transforming agent and seeks to raise society's awareness about the importance of protecting, preserving, and safeguarding native matrices of the species Banisteriopsis Caapi (jagube or mariri) and Psychotria Viridis (chacrona or queen of the forest).
Our purpose is to safeguard this genetic heritage essential for the production of Ayahuasca tea and the continuity of ancestral traditions.
Protect, preserve, and safeguard for at least four decades the native matrices of Banisteriopsis spp and Psychotria spp species in in situ and ex situ sites and other species of importance to traditional populations; create a network for seed and variety exchange to preserve Brazilian genetic heritage in the Amazon.
Develop projects that provide better living conditions through access to human rights, with biodiversity preservation, cultural heritage preservation, job and income generation, food security guarantee, and environmental education with transparency, democratic resource management, and involvement of populations using natural resources, as well as all those involved in the production, trade, and consumption chain of the sacred ancestral Ayahuasca beverage.
Transparency, honesty, democracy, respect, publicity, commitment to biodiversity preservation, foundation in science and ethnoscience, respect for cultural and spiritual traditions, valorization of scientific knowledge, promotion of sustainability, and responsibility towards future generations.

Expeditions that aim to bring information and environmental education to the most remote communities that were naturally blessed with the presence of these sacred plants.
Germplasm is the genetic material of the plant. Our teams search for vines and leaves in native forests of the Amazon rainforest, in the Juruá Valley region, northwest of Acre state, in order to find 100% pure matrices.
We have multipliers throughout Brazil and the world carrying this call for help from the forest. Meetings are held in public places or friendly spaces where we go as guests to bring information about the projects we develop here in Acre.
